Man suffers life-changing injuries after A14 crash

A man has been left with potentially life-changing injuries following a crash on the A14 in mid Suffolk

Emergency services were called to the collision near junction 49 for Haughley shortly after 10.25am on Thursday.

The vehicles involved in the collision were are Mercedes-Benz Sprinter box van and DAF truck.

The carriageway was closed in both directions for some time, with the eastbound carriageway reopening at 1.45pm.

The road fully reopened by 6.15pm.

The driver of the box van, a man in aged in his 50s, had to be extracted from the vehicle and was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge having sustained potentially life-changing injuries.

The driver of the truck, a man aged in his 30s, was treated at the scene but is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle to review the footage.
