Man Uses Rice to Visually Represent Jeff Bezos' Net Worth

Personal finance content creator Humphrey Yang decided to use rice to illustrate the sheer size of Amazon boss Jeff Bezos’ wealth in a February 27 video that quickly went viral on TikTok and Twitter.

In the video, which was filmed in Menlo Park, California, Yang uses one grain of rice to represent $100,000. He then shows 10,000 grains to demonstrate what $1 billion would look like, before finally unveiling a small mountain of rice that is meant to represent $122 billion, which is Bezos’ net worth.

The video, which quickly racked up over 85,000 likes on TikTok and over 2.1 million views on Twitter, was produced by Yang in order to teach Generation Zers and young Millennials about financial literacy. The part one to this video took Yang over two hours to make, while this latest video took about three.

“There’s a big political commentary on these videos; the majority of the comments are people that feel heated about the wealth inequality in America,” Yang told Storyful. “I’d say most of the comments and virality is driven by this as well.” Credit: Humphrey Yang via Storyful
