Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is facing a defensive injury crisis ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League clash with Valencia.

United have already qualified for the knockout stages, but have an outside chance of stealing top spot in Group H, if they beat the Spanish side and Juventus fail to beat bottom side Young Boys.

However, Mourinho could be without three centre halves, as well as first choice left back Luke Shaw for the trip to the Mestalla.

Chris Smalling was forced off just before the hour mark in the victory over Fulham on Saturday, while Victor Lindelof is out with a hamstring injury.

Eric Bailly is a doubt with a minor injury, and if he is not available Mourinho will be left with just Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo as recognised centre backs.

Alexis Sanchez is a longer term absentee, while Anthony Martial is also a doubt, having missed the Fulham game because of an injury picked up in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
