Man Walks Down Street With Wife's Severed Head

A man decapitated his wife with an axe and then wandered the streets carrying her severed head, according to police in India.

The grisly scene in the country's western city of Pune, which lies around 100 miles from Mumbai, was captured on a mobile phone and published online.

Ramachandra Chavan, 60, is seen holding the head in one hand and an axe in the other, apparently unaware of the horrified reactions of people around him.

Two police officers chase after him as bystanders looked on.

He was eventually arrested and the woman's head covered with a cloth, according to News World India.

Investigators believe Chavan, who worked as a security guard, killed his 55-year-old wife, Sonabai, with the axe because he thought she was having an affair with a relative.
