Manchester bombing: Here are the victims of the terror attack
An “inseparable” couple who were childhood sweethearts couple and a 14-year-old girl who loved the bagpipes are among the growing number of Manchester terror attack victims to be identified.
Mothers collecting their children and an eight-year-old girl are also among the dead.
These are some of those who lost their lives.
Eilidh MacLeod
Eilidh MacLeod, 14, from Barra in the Outer Hebrides, had been missing since the explosion. Her family hace now confirmed her death.
Her friend, Laura MacIntyre, 15, was seriously injured and is still being treated in a Manchester hospital.
Eilidh’s mum and dad have said: “Our family is devastated and words cannot express how we feel at losing our darling Eilidh.
“Eilidh was vivacious and full of fun. She loved all music, whether it was listening to Ariana or playing the bagpipes with her pipe band.
“As a family we would like to express our thanks and gratitude for the support and kind messages we have received at this difficult time.”
Chloe Rutherford and Liam Curry
Chloe, 17, and Curry, 19, from South Shields, were “inseparable” and “beautiful inside and out”, their grieving relatives have said.
The teenage sweethearts were among 22 people killed when suicide bomber Salman Abedi blew himself up after a pop concert on Monday night.
In a joint statement released through Greater Manchester Police their relatives said: “On the night our daughter Chloe died and our son Liam died, their wings were ready but our hearts were not.
“They were perfect in every way for each other and were meant to be.
“They were beautiful inside and out to ourselves and our families, and they were inseparable.
“Chloe always described herself as ditzy who Liam adored and would do anything for, including dealing with Chloe’s demands for chocolate.
Courtney Boyle and Philip Tron
Courtney Boyle, 19, who was studying at Leeds Beckett University, and her stepfather Philip Tron, 32, both from Gateshead, were killed in Monday’s attack.
Courtney’s devastated mum confirmed their deaths saying: ‘My stunning amazing beautiful daughter you were my rock, you made me so proud with all you had achieved.
‘And my gorgeous crazy Philip, you made my world a happy place and now you are both my angels flying high in the sky.’
Ms Boyle’s father added: ‘I am going to miss my baby girl Courtney Boyle for the rest of my life. I will never forget you and I will love you forever. Grandad Bob misses you loads also.’
Elaine McIver
The family of an off-duty Cheshire Police officer killed in the Manchester terror attack have said “she would want us all to carry on regardless and not be frightened by fear tactics”.
In a statement issued through Greater Manchester Police, Ms McIver’s family said: “Elaine was a much-loved daughter, sister, auntie, friend and colleague, the best we could ever have wished for.
“She would have been devastated by the injuries sustained by her partner Paul, and we all wish him a speedy recovery.
“Elaine just loved life, and had a major love of music. Despite what has happened to her, she would want us all to carry on regardless and not be frightened by fear tactics; instead she regularly urged us all to rise up against it.
Wendy Fawell
Staff at a primary school have expressed their “deep sadness” after confirming the death of one of their former colleagues in the Manchester bombing.
The family of Wen Fawell, from Otley, West Yorkshire, had mounted a frantic campaign to find the 50-year-old who had been missing since Monday night’s explosion.
On Thursday, St Oswald’s C of E Primary School, in Guiseley, said on Twitter: “It is with deepest sadness that I confirm that our former colleague was killed in the Manchester bombing. RIP, Wendy.”
Olivia Campbell
Olivia, who went to Tottington High School in Bury, had twice appeared on Britain’s Got Talent and called her mum before the concert.
Mrs Campbell wrote today: “RIP my darling precious gorgeous girl Olivia Campbell taken far far to soon go sing with the angels and keep smiling mummy loves you so much.”
The horrifying attack on the Manchester Arena on Monday left 22 people dead and hundreds injured, many of whom were children.
Nell Jones
14-year-old Nell Jones has been confirmed as a victim of the Manchester Arena attack.
Her friends and family posted message appealing for her whereabouts after she disappeared at the Ariana Grande concert. Her cousin Hollie Webb wrote: ‘This is our cousin Nell Jones aged 14 missing in Manchester after the concert last night, please could everybody share for our family, if anyone knows of anywhere we can try as we are heading to Manchester now x.’
Kelly Brewster
Brave Kelly Brewster, who had been to the concert with her sister, Claire Booth, 34, and her 11-year-old niece, Hollie Booth, has also been confirmed dead, after being reported missing since the attack.
Tragically, her partner Ian Winslow wrote on Facebook last night the office worker wasn’t one of the unidentified hospital patients.
He wrote: “Not sure how this works but it isn’t good news. Kelly Brewster wasn’t one of the unidentified hospital patients.
“She has sadly passed away in the terror attack yesterday.
“Kelly really was the happiest she has ever been and we had so many things planned together. My daughter Phoebe will be absolutely devastated like we all are.”
Saffie Rose Roussos
Eight-year-old Saffie Rose Roussos has been confirmed as one of the victims of the terror attack in Manchester. She was attending the Ariana Grande concert with her mother Lisa Roussos and sister, Ashlee Bromwich, who is in her 20s.
Both women are being treated in hospital for their injuries.
Saffie was a pupil at Tarleton Primary school. Headteacher Chris Upton said: ‘Saffie was simply a beautiful little girl in every aspect of the word. She was loved by everyone.’
The horrific attack on the concert was the worst to hit the UK since the 7/7 bombings in 2005 in London.
Georgina Bethany Callander
The first victim of the terror attack in Manchester was named as Georgina Bethany Callander.
The 18-year-old Tweeted on Sunday that she was ‘so excited’ to see Ariana Grande in concert.
Friends and family have paid tribute to Georgina on social media.
A friend wrote: ‘Rest in peace Gina. I love you so incredibly much, you deserved the world & more. I’m so lucky to have met you and known you.’
John Atkinson
26-year-old John Atkinson, from Bury, was also killed. He has been described as an ‘amazing young man’ in tributes posted online.
A friend posted on Facebook: ‘Sleep tight John Atkinson. Thoughts and prayers with all your family and the other 21 people who lost there lives last night.’
Angelika and Marcin Klis
Married Polish couple Angelika and Marcin Klis, a taxi driver, took a selfie together in Manchester city centre shortly before going to the concert to pick their daughters up.
The Polish foreign minister confirmed that the couple, who lived in York, had been killed in the attack, and they leave behind two daughter, Alex and Patricia.
The pair came to the concert to collect their daughters, who are said to be safe.
Alison Howe and Lisa Lees
Friends Alison Howe and Lisa Lees were killed while they waited in the foyer of the Manchester Arena to collect their 15 year-old-daughters – who survived the incident.
Lee Hunter, Lisa Lees’s brother, wrote on Facebook: “For those who don’t know, Lisa is gone but never, ever forgotten.”
Jordan Howe, confirming his stepmother had died, wrote on Facebook: “She was amazing to us all x love you loads Alison Howe.”
Martyn Hett
PR manager Martyn Hett from Stockport was at the Ariana Grande concert with friend Stuart Aspinall before the pair were separated.
The 29-year-old attended the concert two days before he was due to go on a two-month trip to America.
Martyn had appeared on TV shows Come Dine With Me and Tattoo Fixers, was described by friends as ‘hilarious and loving’. He campaigned for LGBTQ+ rights, and last year wrote an emotional tribute to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.
Paying tribute to Martyn, his partner Russell Hayward said: “We got the news last night that our wonderful iconic and beautiful Martyn didn’t survive. He left this world exactly how he lived, centre of attention.
“I’m in a really bad way so please forgive if I don’t reply. Thankfully I have his wonderful family and amazing friends to keep each other strong.
“I love you, I always will. x”
Jane Tweddle-Taylor
Receptionist Jane Tweddlee-Taylor was killed when she went to the Manchester Arena to pick up her friend’s daughter from the Ariana Grande concert.
She worked at South Shore Academy School in Blackpool.
The police have confirmed they know know the identities of all those who died. A spokesman said: ‘We are now confident that we know who all the people are, who have sadly lost their lives in the attack at the Manchester Arena.
‘We have made contact with all of the families and our specially trained officers are supporting them.
‘Due to the number of victims, Forensic Post Mortems are likely to take four to five days. After this we will be in a position to formally name the victims with guidance from the Coroner.’
Michelle Kiss
Mother Michelle Kiss was at the Ariana Grande concert with two young girls, believed to be her daughters. Her niece Laura Murray confirmed her death on Facebook.
Before the concert, Michelle wrote on social media: ‘excited girlies ready to watch Ariana.’
Sorrel Leczkowski
14-year-old Sorrel Leczkowski has been named as a victim of Monday’s attack.
Sorrel was a pupil at Allerton High school in Leeds. She died in hospital, where her mum and grandmother are being treated for injuries.
