Manchester terror attack: Sikh temples offer help to people affected by deadly bombing

Kindness continues to pour out of tragedy in the wake of the Manchester terror attack as Sikh temples offer shelter to those affected by the horrific events.

Doors remained open overnight at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara Educational and Cultural Centre, Gurdwara Sri Guru Harkrisham Sahib, Dasmesh Sikh Temple and Central Gurdwara Manchester Gurudwaras to offer shelter for victims.

Cab drivers were also offering their services for free to get people home after the chaos and confusion of the suicide bomb attack.

Harjinder Kukreja tweeted: “Sikh Temples in Manchester, UK offering food & accommodation. They are open for ALL people.”

At least 22 people were killed in Monday night’s terror attack at Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande concert. The attacker who detonated the bomb was killed in the explosion.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, while Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed that “many” of the victims were children.

The Muslim Council of Britain has released a statement condemning the “horrific” attack.

Secretary General Harun Khan said: “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

“I understand teenagers and children have been caught up in what the police has confirmed to be a terrorist attack.

“This is horrific, this is criminal. May the perpetrators face the full weight of justice both in this life and the next.

“I pay tribute to the police and emergency services who have worked valiantly to save lives last night.

“They were helped by civilians who rushed into offer their support.

“I urge all those in the region and around the country to pool together to support those affected.”

The Prime Minister said the man who carried out the attack is now known to police but his identity has not yet been revealed.
