Manchester United have been fined €15,000 (around £13,000) by Uefa for their late arrival and the subsequent delayed kick-off of their Champions League match against Valencia earlier this month, European football's governing body has announced.

The United team coach was caught in traffic on its way from the Lowry Hotel to Old Trafford on 2 October.

Jose Mourinho would later claim his side were refused a police escort.

United’s opponents that night were also charged for the late kick-off which came at 8:05pm, as the two sides played out a goalless draw.

United have travelled down to London for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Mourinho’s former side Chelsea, who are unbeaten under Maurizio Sarri this season.

Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic have both made the journey south despite recent knocks.

Shaw had to withdraw from the England squad for the games against Croatia and Spain after picking up a knock in the 3-2 win against Newcastle while Matic was sent home by Serbia with a back problem.
