Manchester United in fresh Thomas Tuchel claim as Erik ten Hag decision looms

Manchester United have reportedly kept in contact with Thomas Tuchel - who is set to depart Bayern Munich this summer.

Speculation continues to surround United over the future of manager Erik ten Hag. Monday's 4-0 humiliation to Crystal Palace may leave Sir Jim Ratcliffe with no doubt that a change is needed in the coming months.

Ineos are looking to transform the club on and off the pitch after years of underperformance. The terrible display at Selhurst Park has resulted in United remaining in eighth and in danger of missing out on European qualification with three games remaining.

The Manchester Evening News understands that Ratcliffe has not been totally convinced by Ten Hag, having also refrained from speaking publicly about the Dutchman. While there is no guarantee that United will look to part ways with the Dutchamn, the club are believed to have a number of options, including Tuchel.

And now, according to Sky Sports in Germany, there is 'loose contact' between the German boss and United, as Bayern are not considering a U-turn on their decision. CEO Jan-Christian Dressen said: "No. You have to assess the decision at the point in time when it was made.

"It was a different situation. Now we have another situation – our clear goal is to reach the final, then hopefully win the Champions League. We would all be happy together and then we go separate ways."

The report also claims that United and Chelsea are the two appealing destinations for the German. There have also been some rumours over whether Mauricio Pochettino is the right man to take the club forward at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel is not the only manager linked with potentially replacing Ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout. Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim and Bologna boss Thiago Motta have also been linked with the job.
