The Mandalorian" Mysterious episode five ending has fans convinced iconic Star Wars character is returning
Warning: the story below contains spoilers for The Mandalorian episode five.
A mysterious sequence in The Mandalorian’s has got fans convinced a major Star Wars character could be returning to the franchise.
At the end of the show’s fifth episode, which aired on Friday on Disney+, a mysterious character makes his way towards Fennec Shand’s lifeless body.
While the identity of that character isn’t explicitly revealed, some fans believe that the enigmatic figure is in fact bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Among the perceived clues is a sound effect that can be heard as the anonymous character approaches Shand, which mimics the sound of spurs.
That sound is closely associated to Fett in the Star Wars universe. It can be heard in The Empire Strikes Back as the character walks, and it has become a key part of Fett’s identity for fans of the franchise.
Also supporting the fan theory is the fact that the Mandalorian scene in question takes place on Tatooine, the planet where Fett is left for dead in Return of the Jedi.
I think the mandalorian had boba Fett at the end.

I don’t want to believe it, because I want him to be digested for 1000 years in the stomach of that sarlacc, but is The Mandalorian trying to tease Boba Fett???

So potential spoilers for the Mandalorian...
Listen, I don't want to get my hopes up either about the possibility of who that was at the end of Chapter 5...BUT IF THEY CAN HIDE BABY YODA FROM US THEY CAN DO IT WITH BOBA FETT DAMNIT.
That being said, it was probably Moff Gideon— Jack Savio (@Jack_Savio5)
Yo that guy at the end of the mandalorian was totally boba fett

What if Boba Fett and The Mandalorian cross paths?! :O

[The Mandalorian]: She’s no good to us dead.
That’s a Boba Fett line. Then we see someone walking up to her corpse. Coincidence? I think not!— BeesThatBoo (@beesthatboo)
Naw it’s the mandalorian. The upper right calf armor is exactly the same. I did lose it too thinking it was boba fett.

The mysterious character at the end of the mandalorian chapter 5 is still the mando himself, not boba fett. I scrutinized the scene. Look at the upper right calf leg armor, when the guy bends down. It is exactly the same as mando’s. With the same marks and welding. #Mandalorian

It is worth noting, however, that Jon Favreau, the show’s creator, previously told Good Morning America that all of the characters in The Mandalorian are new and original, which isn’t the case for Fett – as pointed out by The Hollywood Reporter.
Favreau also highlighted the fact that The Mandalorian takes place in a different time frame.
Some viewers believe that the anonymous character is in fact the titular Mandalorian himself, pointing to perceived similarities between the anonymous figure’s armour and the Mandalorian’s.
