Manhunt after 'body fluid' hits girls on Greenwich station escalators in sex assault

Police are hunting for a man after two teenage girls were sexually assaulted in Greenwich.

Both incidents happened in North Greenwich station at around 5pm last Friday (March 22) on the escalators.

In the first incident, a girl was stood on the escalator leaving the station when she felt something wet on her leg.

When she looked closer, it appeared to be body fluid from the man who was stood behind her.

In the second incident, another teenage girl was on the escalator when she felt something wet hit her back and her bottom.

British Transport Police have said this is when a man sexually assaulted her.

A photo has been released of a man police want to speak to who they believe has information that could help their investigation.

Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference number 574 of 22 March.

Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police would also like to speak to anyone else who has had a similar experience.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Detectives investigating two sexual assaults at North Greenwich station are today releasing this CCTV image in connection.

“Both incidents happened at around 5pm last Friday (22 March) on the escalators at the station.

“A teenage girl was stood on the escalator leaving the station when she felt something wet on her leg, on closer look it appeared to be body fluid from the man who had been stood behind her.

“The second incident again a teenage girl was on the escalator when she felt something wet hit her back and bottom, the man has then sexually assaulted her.

“Detectives would like to speak to the man in the image who they believe may have information that could help their investigation.

“And also appeal to anyone else who might have had a similar incident to contact officers.
