How many of these forgotten Northern Ireland phrases can you remember?

The Northern Irish slang is truly unique, but using some of our terms or phrases elsewhere could lead to misunderstandings. For example, if you ask for a "poke" here, you'd get an ice cream cone, but in other places, it could be misunderstood.

Unfortunately, many of our colloquialisms are fading away fast. So, to see how many you can remember or recognise, we at Belfast Live have put together a quiz on some of our favourite phrases that are rarely heard nowadays.

As children, many of us would have heard our dads say "Going to see a man about a dog" but what did he mean by all that? Numerous kids were often left disheartened when their fathers returned from their mysterious trips without the anticipated puppy.

But it doesn’t stop there. Play our quiz and tell us in the comments below if there are others you remember from back in the day that we hardly ever hear anymore…

Here is the quiz, if for some reason it doesn't open you can click on the link here.

How did you get on? Let us know your score in the comments below.
