A resident in Histon Road was woken up by a break-in at a hair salon on Thursday (April 18). They saw two men leaving the premises of the iV Salon.

Officers attended the scene after being called at about 5.15am with reports of a burglary. An investigation is ongoing.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "Anyone with information about the incident should contact police via Cambridgeshire Constabulary's website using reference 35/27036/24. Anyone without internet access should call 101."

It follows a spate of thefts, burglaries, attempted burglaries, break-ins, and smashed windows across Cambridge over the past month. One man was charged with two counts of theft relating to incidents at Thoroughbreads and Milton Road Co-op.

The man, Joe Ross, appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court on April 1. The 34-year-old, of Main Street, Ely, was handed 18 months in prison, suspended for 18 months.

A second man, Robert Rust, 36, has been charged with eight counts of theft and appeared at Cambridge Magistrates' Court on Friday (April 12). He has been committed to Crown Court for sentencing on May 6 and is currently remanded in custody.

The thefts relate to:

  • Lewis Barbers in Unwin Square on March 27;

  • Addenbrooke's Hospital bike park on March 13;

  • B&Q in Cambridge on March 2;

  • Co-Op in Milton Road on March 20;

  • Mace in Green End Road on March 27;

  • The Red Mug Cafe on March 24;

  • NISA/Shans Min Market on April 11;

  • Tesco Express, High Street Chesterton on March 18.

Businesses targeted include cafés, grocery shops, hairdressers, and a post office. Two other incidents include a burglary and attempted burglary at two different homes on Kings Hedges Road on Tuesday (April 16).

Police are continuing to investigate. They have asked anyone with information to come forward via the force website or by calling 101.
