Temperatures are set to rise to 22C over the coming week as May finally brings some sunshine to the country. After what has been a wet, windy and cold April, there is some warm weather on the horizon according to maps from WX Charts.

They indicate that temperatures are likely to reach the high teens and then on May 13 maps show highs of 22C for parts of the country, reports the Mirror online. Sunny conditions and warm air is set to start moving northwards from the continent over this week.

According to the latest local Met Office forecast for our area, the warmer weather is set to start to creep in this week. After seeing unseasonably cold temperatures over the weekend, meteorologists say that 'temperatures are becoming generally above average' as we head towards Friday (May 3) and into the weekend.

The latest local Met Office online forecast for our area is as follows.

Today

Sunny spells first thing today but tending to generally cloudy over through this morning and staying largely cloudy this afternoon. A few showers are possible at times, these mostly in the west. Feeling warmer than yesterday despite brisk southerly winds. Maximum temperature 15C.

Tonight

Mostly dry this evening and overnight with clear spells although the odd shower is possible in the west at first. Minimum temperature 7C.

Tuesday

Largely dry and fine with spells of sunshine at times, though western counties may see some rain by the afternoon. Breezy but feeling warmer than on Monday. Maximum temperature 17C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday

Mostly dry as we move into May but showers remain possible. Feeling warmer than of late with spells of sunshine. Temperatures becoming generally above average but also breezy at times.
