Marco Pierre White says he has no idea who Salt Bae is

Marco Pierre White admitted he has no idea who Salt Bae is.

Salt Bae — whose real name is Nusret Gökçe — went viral for his signature salt sprinkling move and everyone is talking about his new restaurant in Knightsbridge.

Except British chef and restaurateur Mr Pierre White who confessed he has never heard of the famous face.

He told The Metro: “I’ve never heard [of him], I don’t even know who he is. What’s his name? I’ve never heard of him, but remember I live in a field, I don’t watch TV, and I don’t read newspapers.

“I’ve got an old-fashioned Nokia. My battery lasts longer than anybody’s and if I drop my phone my screen doesn’t shatter. It’s as simple as that.”

Salt Bae has already been the talk of the food world.

Michelin star chef Daniel Clifford, who has a two Michelin star restaurant Midsummer House, didn’t hold back when he was asked about the restaurant sensation.

In a scathing review, the cooking guru suggested there was a “big difference” between coming to a two star restaurant and paying out to eat at Nusr-Et Steakhouse London.

He told The Staff Canteen: “Do you want a [£630] steak cooked by Mickey Mouse or do you want to come to a two star restaurant where you’ve got 15 chefs that care about everything that they do?

“There’s a big difference isn’t there.”

Meanwhile, a restauranteur hailed Salt Bae as a “genius” as he has been “fully booked with insane prices”.

Restaurant boss Nikolas Opacic boasts of his own celebrity clientele including Rio Ferdinand, Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Vincent Kompany and a galaxy of stars from Coronation Street.

He told The Standard: “I think he’s a genius. He is fully booked with insane prices.”

Already the chef has blown people away with his restaurants in glamorous locations all over the world including New York, Dubai and Istanbul.

Leonardo DiCaprio, David Beckham, Jason Statham and Naomi Campbell have been among the famous faces who have eaten at his restaurants.
