Marie Osmond says son was 'very heavily bullied' prior to death by suicide

Marie Osmond has opened up about her son's tragic death, saying he was bullied before he took his own life.

Michael died by suicide in 2010 when he was aged just 18 following a battle with depression.

The 59-year-old adopted Michael along with four other children who she raised alongside her second husband Brian Blosil.

Osmond appeared on US show The Talk yesterday where she branded her son's bullies as "horrendous" and said she believes the bullying was a "big component" in what left him feeling overwhelmed.

"I have never spoken about this before. So, my son, who died, he was bullied," the singer shared before adding Michael was "bullied very heavily up until the time" he took his own life.

She went on: "I mean, they are horrendous, and I never took action against [them].

"But, I can tell you, honestly, I believe that was a big component in him just feeling overwhelmed and that he didn't fit in.

"I never took action against the three kids. I know who they are."

While Osmond never confronted Michael's tormentors she did suggest there should be consequences for bullies.

She told the panel: "Maybe it’s not a bad idea to have some kind of consequence because it’s getting out of hand."

Following on from Osmond and Blosil's divorce which was announced in 2007, she went on to remarry her first husband Stephen Craig in 2011.

The pair had previously been married from 1982 to 1985.

There was further tragedy for the Osmond family last year after Troy Osmond, the son of Marie's brother Merrill Osmond, was found dead at his home.
