Martin Freeman's family drama series Breeders will end after its upcoming fourth season.

The final season will also see a five-year time-skip, with Paul (Martin Freeman) and Ally (Daisy Haggard) once again on the verge of splitting up as they struggle to deal with the obstacles of parenting their now teenage children.

There are also new additions to the cast as Oscar Kennedy and Zoë Athena are joining the show as the older versions of the Worsley children, playing 18-year-old Luke and 16-year-old Ava.

According the season four synopsis, Luke and Ava will face relationship issues of their own, with Ava meeting and falling for charismatic friend Holly (Jessie Williams). The family are also rocked by a Christmas dinner bombshell from Luke, which will change everyone's lives forever.

Meanwhile Paul and Ally will continue to struggle with their rocky marriage, while also tasked with supporting Paul's parents Jim and Jackie.

Season four is set to premiere on American network FX on Monday, July 31 before later hitting UK screens via Sky One in October.

Season three of Breeders saw Paul and Ally hit with more struggles in their relationship and parenting style, with Paul forced to temporarily move out of the family home after his anger issues began to have an impact on his son Luke's anxiety.

Freeman also serves as a creator and executive producer on the series, working alongside Emmy Award winning showrunner Simon Blackwell (The Thick of It, Peep Show) and Chris Addison (Veep, Mock the Week).
