After playing a Marvel superhero for two years, Luke Cage actor Mike Colter will star in new drama series Evil.

The actor has landed a leading role in the potential show made by The Good Wife and The Good Fight creators Robert and Michelle King.

The series will follow Mike's character David DaCosta, a Catholic priest who has the task to investigate paranormal phenomena and assess if there's a scientific or supernatural explanation behind it.

He will be joined by sceptical forensic psychologist Kristen Benoist (Katja Herbers) and a blue-collar contractor who is yet to be cast.

Mike's new role marks a kind-of reunion with the Kings because he previously starred on The Good Wife as a powerful Chicago drug lord and also made a guest appearance on The Good Fight's second season.

Luke Cage was axed by Netflix after two seasons last year, and Mike recently shared if we could expect a potential revival of the superhero series.

Speaking to IndieWire at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Mike was asked whether or not there's any chance of the Marvel show making a return.

"I have no clue, because it's one of those things that didn't happen for any other reason than the powers that be deciding that it was something that they wanted to take back into another platform," he explained at the time.

"Whether it comes back, I don't know."

"Ultimately, if it comes back, it'll probably come back because of the fans' demand for it. It just may not happen as soon as they want it to," added Mike.

Luke Cage seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix.
