Former Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry has never had a takeaway, makes an odd spag bol, AND has never heard of comedian Noel Fielding.

Channel 4 finally confirmed the new GBBO line-up last week, and joining Paul Hollywood in his lonely old tent as judge will be the much-rumoured restaurateur Prue Leith.

QI presenter Sandi Toksvig and The Mighty Boosh's Noel will be stepping into Mel & Sue's presenting shoes when the series returns later this year.

However, when asked if she could have worked with Noel, Mary told The Sun: "I don't know him, but I'd take my chances."

She went on to praise Prue for her "knowledge" and "personality", backing her for the Bake Off reboot.

Digital Spy has reached out to Mary's reps for comment.

But he seems pretty chuffed with the new cast, saying: "I could not be more delighted by who will be joining me on the show.

"Prue is a hugely respected culinary legend and Sandi and Noel are warm and utterly hilarious. I cannot wait to get back in the tent with the bakers."

Noel added: "GBBO is one of my favourite shows. I've always loved brightly coloured cakes and Sandi Toksvig so this is a dream come true for me! It's basically the double."

The Great British Bake Off will air its first series on Channel 4 later this year.
