A masked person was caught lurking in an Edinburgh garden on ring doorbell footage.

The incident was captured in the early hours of May 11, and shows an individual wearing a t-short, jogging trousers and a mask walking through the private garden. Lorraine P, who lives in the Craigentinny area, told Edinburgh Live it isn't the first time this has happened.

She said the same person has been seen in her garden "at all times", and believes it to be someone who stays nearby.

Lorraine told us: "I have had the same person at my garden at all times.

"The mad thing is on Christmas Eve they stole the door cam. Think they stay over the road."

As doorbell cameras increase in popularity, people across Edinburgh have been catching individuals around their houses more often. Earlier this month, a woman in Clermiston caught someone "stealing plant pots".

The incident was captured at around 3.15am on May 8, with the person in the clip alleged to have taken one plant pot before returning only minutes later to swipe another.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Sharon said: "The video appeared as she was walking away taking the first plant pot.

"Then she came back seven minutes later for another one. This was around 3.15am.

"Hopefully this will help catch her. She's been caught on camera, I'd advise she brings them back."

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
