Matt Damon Says Ben Affleck Is “Doing Good” Following Split

It was the celebrity split that rocked the world, but Matt Damon has revealed that his friend, Ben Affleck is doing ok after splitting from Jennifer Garner.

The Martian star also admitted to Entertainment Weekly that “marriage is insane” and while he thinks he knows why his marriage works, he wouldn’t want to give advice on anybody else’s.

They’ve been lifelong friends since writing and starring in Oscar-winning Good Will Hunting together, so it’s no surprise that Matt Damon has been keeping an eye on Ben Affleck following his very public split from wife, Jennifer Garner.

“I think marriage is insane,“ the 44-year-old actor told ET. “It’s a crazy idea but I love being married to my wife. So I wouldn’t tell anybody else about their relationship. But I’m lucky I found my wife. And I guess maybe, if there’s any secret… it’s to feel lucky.”

Matt Damon married interior designer, Luciana Barroso in 2005 and the couple have three daughters together, as well as Luciana’s daughter from a previous marriage.

“So much of it is out of your hands,” the actor said. “I mean, I just had that conversation with my father this weekend. He says the same thing to me. Says it’s God’s grace, is what he said. Because you just don’t get lucky.”

While Matt and Ben stay in touch regularly, they sadly missed seeing each other on Ben’s recent 43rd birthday.

“I was in Boston with my family actually. It was kind of a meaningless, it was 43 you know? It wasn’t that big,” Damon with ET. “I think he was actually in Atlanta with his family. So we missed each other but… he’s good. He’s good.”

We’re glad to hear Ben’s doing ok. After all, partners may come and go but friends are forever.
