Recently submitted plans have given a first look at how a new Medway Tesco store could look once built. Construction is currently underway for a Tesco Express supermarket at St Andrews Park in the village of Halling, found between Strood and Snodland.

The new store will join a 66-bedroom care home on the land adjacent to the Balancing Pond. Approval for this large project was granted in September last year, with the three-storey care home to be found just off of the A228 Formby Road.

Once finished, the care home will house a range of features and amenities, including a lounge and dining room, cinema room, coffee shop, cocktail lounge and a hair salon. Meanwhile, the separate supermarket unit will sit just a short distance away and occupy one storey.

Plans for the installation of new signage displaying the Tesco branding at the new supermarket have been submitted to Medway Council for approval. Once completed, the 3,830sq ft store will stock a wide range of grocery items, branded goods and Tesco products.

It is not yet known when the new Tesco Express will open and KentLive has approached the supermarket chain for further details. Tesco already operates a number of stores throughout the Medway towns, including in Gillingham, Rainham and Strood.
