Meghan Markle's former Suits-co star Wendell Pierce offered some firm advice to the duchess before she officially became a royal by tying the knot with Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex was initially best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama with Wendell starring as her strict on-screen father, Robert Zane.

The actor shared some heartfelt words with Meghan during her last day on set as he recalled: "It was the last night of working and I said, 'Meghan, your life is going to change, and you're going to be in a bubble.

"But just always remember, no matter what, I'm your friend - you have lots of friends."

However, Meghan turned out to not be a part of the Royal Family for long as she and Harry announced their exit from the Firm in January 2020, OK! reports.

Wendell has stood by Meghan since the couple's controversial decision to leave the UK as he revealed his stance in a snippet from Who's Talking to Chris Wallace? shared by People magazine.

"We're always thinking about you, we'll always be there for you," he reminisced about his parting message to Meghan. "And you know, no matter where you are, always know you have a friend in me."

It was recently announced that Suits would be making a comeback spin-off series called Suits LA, starring Stephen Amell.

It was hoped that the duchess may revive her acting career and return to her former role but she's since been ruled out of the series.

Addressing a potential return for Meghan, Wendell shared: "Controversy and the life living in the public eye always takes on a life of its own. You love this man. You love your two children, [Archie and Lilibet].

"Do what's best for all of you. And let that be your guiding light and your North Star."

The former Suits star, 42, recently launched her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard with many famous stars showing their support for her new venture.

Big names such as Kris Jenner, Chrissy Teigen and Mindy Kaling all received a complimentary jar of the duchess' new strawberry jam to taste with her pal Heather Dorak branding it “kid tested, mother approved.”

While Meghan keeps busy with her new venture, the Duke of Sussex is set to return to the UK this week to mark the 10 year anniversary of the Invictus Games in London.

He will be making the trip alone as the duchess is reported to be staying in the US with their two kids before she reunites with her husband for a trip to Nigeria.

The former royal couple accepted an invitation to visit the African country, where they will meet service members and take part in a variety of cultural activities.
