Meghan Markle's 'strategic friendship' with Jessica Mulroney slammed by Royal expert

Meghan Markle has been criticised for her 'strategic friendship' with former best friend Jessica Mulroney.

Royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths has taken a swipe at the Duchess of Sussex's approach to friendships.

Griffiths labelled the relationship between Meghan and Jessica as a "strategic friendship", criticising the ex-Suits actress's seeming inability to maintain friendships.

She highlighted the Duchess's reputation for "unfriending her friends", particularly in light of the apparent growing distance between Jessica and Meghan in recent years.

The Royal expert also referred to the Urban Dictionary term "Markled", defined as someone who distances themselves from a friendship after it has significantly impacted their life, reports the Mirror.

While appearing on Palace Confidential, Griffiths commented: "[She's unfriended] family members, Suits co-stars, her best friend Jessica Mulroney whose children were page boys at the royal wedding."

This comes following an alleged fallout between the two in 2020. A source told Page Six that the Duchess believed Mulroney was attempting to "make a career out of the friendship".

Griffiths remarked: "For somebody who is actually famous for unfriending her friends or casting aside her friends, it's amazing that she cited the word friendship in the blurb for this documentary that's sort of been leaked out. I think she's a bit strategic with her friends and once she's finished with them, she casts them aside and forgets all about them, deletes their number and blocks their number in some cases."

Meghan Markle is currently busy filming for her latest Netflix project, which is said to revolve around cooking and gardening themes.

Despite hopes from admirers to catch glimpses of Meghan and Harry's opulent Montecito home, reports suggest that Netflix has opted to rent a different property close by for the production.

A source disclosed to Daily Mail: "Netflix has rented a house in Montecito for filming."

It was also reported that filming kicked off on April 16.

This comes as Prince Harry is working on his own Netflix documentary centred on polo. The Duke of Sussex was accompanied by cameras during a recent charity polo match.

The event, held in Wellington, Florida, saw Harry's team, Royal Salute Sentebale, triumph in both matches, watched by an audience of roughly 300.

Post-victory, Harry was seen receiving a congratulatory kiss on the cheek from Meghan, who had been enthusiastically supporting him from the sidelines.
