Mel B 'rushed to hospital fearing she was blind' ahead of Spice Girls tour

Mel B was rushed to hospital after losing sight in her right eye on Friday night, according to reports.

The Spice Girls singer cannot see from her left eye, due to laser surgery 20 years ago which went wrong, so feared she could be totally blind.

Sources said she arrived at London’s Moorfields Eye Hospital wearing an eye-patch and said: “I can’t see anything — I am totally blind.”

The 43-year-old was reportedly taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital’s ophthalmology department.

After receiving treatment she is said to have left to rejoin her bandmates in rehearsing for their upcoming tour.

A source said told The Sun: “Mel was in a really bad way. The other girls and their managers were really worried.

“Mel was frantic and screaming that she couldn’t see a thing. She went to the hospital in a chauffeur-driven car with an assistant, who was holding her hand.

“No one knew what brought it on but she had very swift, and very good, treatment."

A spokeswoman for the group told the paper that the situation was "under control", with the singer having received treatment and returned to rehearsals.

The Spice Girls will headline three shows at Wembley Stadium in June after kicking off the tour in Dublin on May 24.
