Spice Girl Melanie Brown has revealed that her rocky marriage was the reason for their last tour being cut short.

The girl group have just announced that they will be going on a reunion tour, but in an appearance on Loose Women, Brown admitted that her marriage troubles with Stephen Belafonte were behind previous show cancellations.

In 2007 and early 2008, The Spice Girls went on a reunion tour but cancelled the final dates before completing it, and Mel has said that it was due to her troubled relationship with ex Stephen Belafonte, who she married in 2007.

She told Loose Women: “I wasn’t in a very good space with my marriage and I couldn’t go on any more.

“I don’t think anybody knows that publicly, but it was my fault and I was the one who wanted to get us all back together.”

Mel filed for divorce from Belafonte in 2017, accusing him of emotional and physical abuse, and has since sought help for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

She also spilled the news that tickets for the new Spice Girls tour will go on sale this Friday (November 9), and that at the moment they only have plans for dates in the UK.

Only Mel, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, and Mel C will reunite for the shows, with Victoria Beckham currently not signed up to take part.

Mel, who said tour discussions had been going on for “five or six months”, said: “It’s just the four of us fully confirmed. I hope [Victoria will] come to one of them.”

She wasn’t giving much away on Beckham’s reasons for not signing up – when asked why, she said: “I don’t know, ask her.

“She’s got her work and her fashion line and her kids, so she can’t commit just now.”
