Mel Giedroyc terrified by gorilla prank on Loose Women

From Digital Spy

There's nothing funnier than a celebrity getting the shock of their life by a person in a silly costume on TV – we're looking at you, Ellen.

However, that treatment was afforded to Mel Giedroyc on today's (May 24) Loose Women after she recalled the story of how she decided to get a 'gorilla gram' for bestie Sue Perkins' 30th.

"I booked her what I thought would be a hilarious gorilla-gram prank for her 30th," she recalled. "I said to gorilla-gram HQ, I said, 'I'd like him to come in, throw around a bit, do a poem and then go out.'

"And the guy came in, stripped down to a very unappealing thong and did some rather unsavoury business with her on the floor!"

However, just as she got to that latter part, someone in a gorilla costume popped up behind Mel and scared the bejesus out of her.

"I'm having a hot flush!" the presenter joked as the audience and panel collapsed into a fit of laughter.

Nadia Sawalha then revealed that they told the producer to "let [Mel] be really scared", before the presenter continued her Sue story.

"The gorilla was called Tony," she said as she looked at her new gorilla friend. "Is that Tony? I had to literally almost pull him off her. I said, 'Tony, you need to get home now!'"

Stacey Solomon asked Mel if Sue would ever get her back for her original prank, with the former Great British Bake Off co-host admitting: "It will be worse!"

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
