Melanie Lynskey reconnects with her “Sweet Home Alabama” kids on Instagram

Melanie Lynskey famously brought a baby to a bar in Sweet Home Alabama — and now, her other on-screen kids have reconnected with her on EW's Instagram.

Former child actor Colin Ford reached out to his on-screen mom in the comment section of an EW post highlighting some of the 2002 rom-com's most notable quotes on Tuesday. "@msmelanielynskey ❤️ proud to be one of your kiddos in this film. My first job!" he commented.

Lynskey responded with enthusiasm, and also shouted out another one of her castmates. "I knoooow and you were so sweet and did such a good job! @kelseylowenthal too! 💖," the actress commented.

Kelsey Lowenthal jumped in to share in the celebration. "awww thank you!🥰 Best memories of my life were during this set!" Lowenthal commented. Later, she pitched a continuation of their characters' story: "imagine a [Sweet Home Alabama] 2 with the kids all grown up," she commented. Lynskey responded that such a project would be "a dream."

Another commenter asked whether either of the kids in question were the infamous bar-baby. "Neither of them are the baby, they were both sweet and talented little kids who played my other kids, and they've grown into sweet and talented adults," Lynskey clarified. "Adore them both."

Ford went on to appear in projects such as Supernatural, Walker, Under the Dome, and Captain Marvel, while Lowenthal only has one other credit: the 2002 TV movie A Haunting in Georgia.

Lynskey reflected on shooting the bar scene last year in a video interview with InStyle. "The 'You have a baby in a bar!' scene I remember very well because I was, like, 21, I think, or 22. I did not have any babies at the time," Lynskey said. "And I had these five children that I was wrangling. They were so sweet. I'm still in touch with two of them. And they're very cute, very sweet kids."
