Men asked how women pee with tampons in – and the answers are 'terrifying'

The ignorance of some men regarding menstruation might be amusing to a few, but it appears the joke is wearing thin for many. Understanding the workings of a tampon or moon cup, and the basics of a menstrual cycle doesn't require a science degree.

However, a street interview has been making waves on the internet after several men were quizzed with a straightforward question: "How does a girl pee with a tampon in?" The responses were, to put it mildly, quite bewildering.

One man, looking utterly confused, admitted: "I have always wondered this." Equally perplexed, another man confessed: "I have no idea dude. Does she take it out? She takes it out, yeah."

Another was slightly more assured, albeit mistakenly, as he suggested: "You hold it off to the side or take it out. Or maybe it absorbs stuff anyway so it can do both at the same time."

Several others were convinced the correct procedure involved removing the tampon and replacing it with a new one after urination.

Just for the record, there's no need to remove a tampon when peeing since urine exits through the urethra, not the vagina where the tampon or moon cup is placed. Both are part of the vulva, yet they are distinct openings.

Thousands of users poured into the comments section, with some chuckling at the answers. Yet, several users were shocked by the display of ignorance.

One frustrated user vented: "This is terrifying. Are so many men this ignorant?" A second commenter concurred, stating: "Proof that men should not be making decisions about women's bodies."

A third suggested: "Jesus dudes, look at a human anatomy book." And a fourth pleaded: "Open the schools, oh my God, please."
