Dec. 21—PRINCETON — Deputies with the Mercer County Sheriff's Department continued their investigation Thursday of a pedestrian accident which left a man seriously injured last Sunday morning along Courthouse Road near Princeton.

Capt. J.J. Ruble said deputies were notified around 8:30 a.m. Sunday about suspicious activity regarding a man in a ditch. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Timmy Sloan, no age available, of Princeton.

Ruble said Sloan had been struck by a vehicle. He was transported to Princeton Community Hospital and later transferred to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was listed in critical but stable condition Thursday.

There were no witnesses at the scene. Deputies are working to collect surveillance videos from businesses and homes, Ruble said. Sloan had left his workplace, the McDonalds on Oakvale Road, around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and he was discovered at Courthouse Road around 8:30 a.m. Sloan's friends and family were being interviewed to help determine a possible timeline and when he could have been hit.
