'Mesmerising' footage shows Northern Lights over Loch Lomond in stunning spectacle

Incredible footage shows the Northern Lights in the skies over Loch Lomond last night.

On Tuesday evening, people across Scotland were treated to incredible views of the aurora borealis. The spectacular phenomenon, which is caused by charged particles from the sun interacting with the Earth's atmosphere, produces dazzling colourful displays in the night sky.

One of the lucky Scots who was able to catch a glimpse was Sairus Soliman, 38, who journeyed to the village of Luss on the west bank of Loch Lomond. Armed with a camera, the photographer captured a series of breathtaking time-lapses of the loch.

In the stunning footage, the skies are lit up in breathtaking shades of green, blue, and purple. Meanwhile, boats can be seen gently bobbing up and down on the surface of the water below.

Taking to Facebook to share the clips, Soliman wrote: "The Northern Lights display tonight at Loch Lomond Luss was utterly captivating. The vibrant auroras painted the night sky with a breathtaking array of colors, weaving and dancing like celestial ribbons.

"It was a mesmerising spectacle, evoking a deep sense of awe and wonder at the sheer beauty of nature's wonders."
