Bristol is set for a sharp rise in temperatures next week. The Met Office expects the mercury to hit up to 27C between Monday (June 24) and Wednesday (June 26).

The forecaster posted a map on X (formerly know as Twitter) showing how warm it is expected to get in certain areas of the nation. While the east, including London, could see temperatures close to 30C, Bristol is set for conditions ranging from 25C to 27C over the start of next week.

For Bristol, the Met Office said: "Typical summer heat, very warm for 2-3 days with daytime maximum temperatures 25-27C." However, the weather could become less settled towards the end of next week.

Forecasters are expecting temperatures to peak next Wednesday (June 26). However, a breakdown of high-pressure from Tuesday night (June 25) into Wednesday could bring slightly unsettled conditions.

It will bring the chance of heavy showers and thunderstorms in places. The Met Office expects the most persistent rain to come in the South West.

Dan Rudman, a Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, said: “After a brief, less settled interlude today and tomorrow, fine conditions will return by Sunday and into the beginning of next week. For much of the UK this will be accompanied by a boost in temperatures with many places reaching the mid-20°Cs.

"Some central and southern areas are likely to see temperatures approaching the values needed for heatwave conditions. Heatwave conditions need to remain in situ for three consecutive days, and by the beginning to middle of next week it is possible that some parts of the UK could be reaching heatwave thresholds.

“However, whether or not everyone experiences heatwave thresholds, the majority of the UK will experience the highest temperatures so far this year."

He added: “Confidence in the forecast reduces markedly from Wednesday onwards, with uncertainty in both how long the heat will last and how it will break down, which we will be keeping an eye on for the coming days. However, by next weekend, cooler, changeable conditions become more likely.

"The best advice for anyone wanting to know how the weather is shaping up from mid-next week, is to keep an eye on our latest forecast."
