Mewan is quick out of the blocks to lead Oakamoor to NSSCL Division One victory

Rashmika Mewan compiled a sparkling century in Oakamoor’s comprehensive NSSCL Division One win at home against Porthill Park seconds.

Oakamoor were set 122 for victory - but Mewan still had enough runs to play with to reach three figures.

He rampaged his way to 107 not out, off just 59 balls, as Oakamoor completed a nine-wicket triumph inside 21 overs.

Mewan’s innings featured 12 fours and six sixes to secure a second win of the season for his side.

Porthill Park had earlier posted 121-9 from their 50 overs.

Mathew Guest (25) and Will Price (23) made the most headway with the bat, while Paul Hammersley captured 4-21 for the home side.

James Smith also chipped in with a couple of wickets, before Mewan took centre stage with his rapid ton.

Cheadle seconds’ Jake Mills was another batsman celebrating a century in his side’s success at home against Blythe.

Mills hit 17 fours and three sixes in his 133 to set Cheadle on their way to 260-7 declared from 42 overs.

Mills shared a first-wicket stand of 131 with Craig Smith, who made 45.

Hamza Shirzad took the Blythe bowling plaudits with 4-50.

Blythe gave the run chase a good go as Junaid Ali’s 79 fronted their reply.

Ali struck 12 fours and one six in his innings, with Tom Lowe (46), Chris Gask (34) and Muhammad Salman Hanif (33) also impressing.

However, Blythe were dismissed for 215 in the 61st over of their innings as Jack Winfield scooped 3-35 and there were a couple of scalps for James Jackson.

Meir Heath ended a run of five straight defeats as they recorded their first league win with victory at Stone SP seconds.

Meir Heath took first use and navigated their way to 140-9 from their allocation.

Abid Hussain top-scored with 31, with valuable support coming from Farrhuk Javed (22), Dale Heath (21) and Zak Hill (17).

For Stone SP, there were three wickets apiece for Robert Pochwyt (3-18), Euan Irving (3-22) and Devon Pollard (3-25).

Sam Butters (27), Joel Davies (13) and Irving (12) made starts in Stone SP’s post-tea response.

However, the home side were dismissed for 93 as Barney Britton helped himself to 3-16.

Hussain, Asim Ali and Maz Akhtar shared six wickets.

Barlaston executed a fine run chase to win on their visit to Rode Park & Lawton.

They were set 219 for victory - and managed to bank a five-wicket success with one over to spare.

That was largely thanks to the batting exploits of Worcestershire all-rounder Tom Taylor, who hit seven fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 89.

Fida Hussain (36) and Sam Plant (22) also played their part, while Jack Harrison took a couple of wickets.

In the first half of the contest, Zia Ul Haq Parwani constructed a half-century in Rode Park & Lawton’s 218-9 from their allocation.

Parwani made 62, which featured three fours and four sixes. Richard Bebbington chipped in with 41 and Oliver Gallimore weighed in with 38.

There were two wickets apiece for Jack Davies and Matt Myers.

Leaders Bignall End saw their unblemished start to the league campaign come to an end as they lost at home to Hem Heath seconds.

Aunn Shah’s 43, Martin Dawson’s 37, 23 from Ahsam Zaroof and Irfan Khan’s 19 helped Bignall End to 160 all out first up.

Wasim Khan scooped 3-21, with Rob Price, Ben Topley and Ben Lucas all claiming double strikes.

Hem Heath then timed their run chase to perfection to complete a two-wicket win.

Lucas was at the forefront of their reply, with 60 not out, including eight boundaries and one six.

Danny Sanders lent support with 21, while Zaroof and Dawson snared 3-13 and 3-36 respectively.

Sandbach chalked up their fourth win of the season at home against Endon.

Saeed Ali hit seven fours and two sixes in his 66 to form the backbone of Sandbach’s 171 all out.

Gareth Lennon (24), Ather Abid (23) and Jawad Ahmed (20) were also in decent nick.

Jack Chell helped himself to 3-28, with Josh Reynolds and Kyle Brassington picking up two wickets apiece.

Endon ran into early trouble after tea as they were reduced to 17-5.

Josh Tittensor (39no) ad Reynolds (29) stopped the rot, but it was too late and Endon fell to 117 all out.

Ben Guildford (3-11), Ali (3-12) and Jack Collett (3-29) did the damage with the ball.
