Michael Keaton has said it felt “shockingly normal” to reprise the role of Batman in a new film.

The actor played the caped crusader in 1989 movie Batman and the 1992 follow up Batman Returns, and has now stepped into the batsuit once again for upcoming superhero film The Flash.

Keaton said in an interview with Jake’s Takes that playing the character felt very familiar even though it had been almost 30 years since he’d last done so.

Recalling how he felt when he stepped on to the set, the 69-year-old explained: “Like I went, ‘Oh, oh yeah, that’s right.’

“But also then you start to play the scenes and a lot of memories, a lot of really interesting, like sense memories [return].”

Asked if he was referring to muscle memory, the star said that he was.

Keaton – whose other recent movies include American Assassin and The Trial Of The Chicago 7 - added that it actually felt “weird” how familiar Gotham was to him after so much time had passed.

The Flash will also see Ben Affleck play Batman.

The Hollywood star previously put on the cowl in the movies Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Justice League.
