Michelle Keegan and Rio Ferdinand to take part in The Crystal Maze

Michelle Keegan and Rio Ferdinand are among the celebrities who will take part in The Crystal Maze when it returns to TV for the first time in 21 years.

Channel 4 have confirmed the Our Girl actress and former England footballer will join Radio DJ Sara Cox, Paralympics champion Jonnie Peacock and comedian Josh Widdicombe on the celeb team aiming to crack the crystal.
The show will be hosted by Stephen Merchant and air in the run up to Stand Up To Cancer.

The five stars will be filmed taking on the Aztec, Medieval, Futuristic and Industrial zones before facing the fans in the Crystal Dome at The Crystal Maze Experience in London.

The special episode will see the celebrities taking on various challenges as they aim to win as many crystals as possible.

All of the gold and silver tokens the celebs collect in the Crystal Dome will be turned into money for Stand Up To Cancer.

Speaking about hosting the show, Stephen said: “As a huge fan of the original series, I’m honoured to support Stand Up To Cancer by hosting this one-off edition of The Crystal Maze.

“Richard O’Brien and Ed Tudor-Pole leave big shoes to fill, but I have size 14 feet, so I’ll do my best.”

The original Crystal Maze series was presented by Richard O’Brien and later Ed Tudor-Pole and aired for six series between 1990 and 1995.
