Michelle Visage has landed a new job as a radio DJ.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race judge, 51, has signed up to make her UK radio presenting debut for BBC Radio 2.

She will play her favourite tracks on Michelle Visage’s Fabulous Divas for the broadcaster over the Christmas period.

The US star, who was voted off Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday alongside dance partner Giovanni Pernice, said she was “super excited” to host her own show.

“I’m hoping there will be a song for everyone to dance to, not to mention music from some of the biggest divas in the business… think Madonna, Lady Gaga, Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin,” she said.

“Listeners of the UK need to be ready because we are going to have a lot of fun.”

The show is part of the Christmas line-up for BBC Radio and Sounds, to be fully unveiled on Monday.

The star, who has co-hosted morning shows in New York, Los Angeles and Miami over 17 years, and is a judge on RuPaul's Drag Race, will play her favourite songs and say how they have shaped her.

On Tuesday Visage hit out at reports that she “stormed off” after being eliminated from Strictly.

In an interview with Lorraine Kelly, the 51-year-old addressed rumours that she left Blackpool ballroom immediately after she and Pernice were booted out of the competition.

The couple, who had performed a routine to Madonna’s Vogue, left the show following a dance off against Saffron Barker and AJ Pritchard.

“Storm out of where?” she joked to Kelly. “They said I stormed out of actual Blackpool! Did I go into the ocean? Where did I go? Did I go to Liverpool, did I go to Manchester?”

Clearing up the rumours, she explained that she actually joined her fellow Strictly hopefuls at the after party until the early hours of the morning.

“I went to the [after] party until about 3.30 in the morning and I was dancing all night with Neil, Alex, Oti and Kelvin and Gio,” she said. “We were just having a really good time.”

She added: “The press has been at it with me. I think it’s because I’m American, I have a big mouth, I am a strong woman and people try and take you down… we’re in the limelight, and when you’re in the limelight, you are always at risk of that. It is what it is but none of it’s true.”

Michelle Visage’s Fabulous Divas will be broadcast from 7pm to 9pm on Monday December 30.
