Middleton Hall Retirement Village scoops two national awards

Middleton Hall Retirement Village achieved a remarkable double win at the 2024 Care Home Awards, taking home two prestigious accolades.

The Estates Team at the retirement village in Middleton St George near Darlington was honoured with the 'Best Outdoor Space' award and the Housekeeping Team was named as 'Best Housekeeping Team'.

The awards provide an annual benchmark of excellence and innovation for care home management, operations and delivery.

The Best Outdoor Space award highlights Middleton Hall Retirement Village’s dedication to creating and maintaining beautiful, accessible and engaging outdoor environments which were recognised for enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Estates Manager Bryan Moore, whose team looks after the retirement village’s verdant 45-acre estate, said he was thrilled to have received the award: "This accolade is a testament to the hard work and passion that our Estates Team embodies every day, creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces for our residents to enjoy.

"For me, it’s a wonderful legacy to be part of, that our spaces can be enjoyed by current and future residents for many years to come. I am immensely proud of our achievements as an Estates Team, and we are dedicated to continuing our efforts to enhance our gardens. Our goal is to create a vibrant, sustainable, and accessible environment that all our residents can enjoy."

The village’s Housekeeping Team's excellence was recognised within the Care Home Awards’ Best Facilities Management, Maintenance or Housekeeping Team category. This accolade celebrates the team's unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort for residents in Middleton Hall’s three luxury care services and supported apartments.

The award entry described them as “some of the behind-the-scenes superheroes of the organisation” where they help to create “a home from home for care service residents, where they feel happy, supported and safe”.

Nicola Hauxwell, Housekeeping Supervisor said: “Being nominated was an award in itself, to win has just blown us out of the water. We are grateful for the chance to share what we do for the residents and to be recognised and given an award for that is incredible."
