Migos rapper Offset arrested for alleged gun possession
Migos star Offset, real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus, has been arrested for alleged possession of a firearm and drugs.
He faces two felony charges: possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a weapon during a crime, TMZ reports.
Offset also faces two misdemeanour charges: possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and improper lane change.
The arrest on July 20 came just days after Offset and his wife's Cardi B's daughter Kulture Kiari was born.
Speaking to People, lawyer Drew Findling said: "He is concerned, very concerned, about [Cardi B]. Of course his new baby is his top priority as well as his other children."
Clayton Country Jail, where Offest was being held, was reportedly hit by a power outage during the time of his arraignment.
This meant the whole thing was conducted in complete darkness.
Offset was pulled over in his Porsche on Friday after police officers claim to have noticed the vehicle perform an improper lane change.
As the lawmen closed in on the car, they allegedly caught the scent of marijuana, resulting in them searching Offset's vehicle.
According to the authorities, in addition to less than an ounce of weed, over $107,000 and three handguns were found in his possession.
Findling added: "He did not commit any traffic offence and he certainly was not in possession of any weapons. This was an improper arrest and I believe in his innocence."
Offset was expected to be released sometime yesterday morning (July 21) and bail was set at $17,000.
