Mile-long queue as roadworks turn Leek New Road into car park

Motorists have been stuck in a queue stretching back one mile - thanks to a new set of roadworks. Communication giant Openreach is carrying out works on Moss Hill, in Stockton Brook.

But it has resulted in multi-way temporary traffic lights being set up on Leek New Road and Moss Hill. It appears that the roadworks have been in place since 11.30am today - and are expected to remain in place until Thursday.

Pictures from a StokeonTrentLive reader show drivers heading towards Stockton Brook being stuck in a mile-long queue stretching back as far as Baddeley Green. Traffic is queuing to Endon in the opposite direction.
