Millions of Gallons Gush Out of Wilson Dam After Intense Rainfall in Northern Alabama

Heavy rainfall in south of the United States forced the release of millions of gallons of water from the Wilson Dam near Florence, Alabama, on Wednesday, February 20.

The dam released 2 million gallons of water per second, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) tweeted.

Heavy rainfall pushed the Tennessee River close to overflowing. The road and bridge above the river were closed due to hazardous conditions, Weather.com reported.

TVA also tweeted footage of the Great Falls Dam in Tennessee, which released 460,000 gallons per second.
