New Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin is optimistic Aberdeen can retain star duo Bojan Miovski and Duk ahead of the new season.

Macedonian star is Miovski is the subject of several clubs - including Serie A high-flyers Bologna - after netting 26 goals in 53 matches last season in an otherwise dismal campaign for the Dons. His forward partner Duk enjoyed a much less successful campaign in front of goal but in a recent interview back in Portugal revealed that he will be looking to move on from Aberdeen during the window. The Cape Verde international has previously been linked with a move to Swiss side Young Boys and Torino in Italy.

Swedish coach Thelin took his first training session in the Granite City on Monday, but was without Miovski - who has been given extra time off after representing North Macedonia on international duty earlier this month. The 25-year-old will join back up with the Reds squad in their pre-season training camp in Portugal at the start of July.

Speaking to the media at Pittodrie for the first time since his unveiling as Aberdeen manager, Thelin is hopeful of keeping the two attackers but concedes that nothing can be ruled out during a transfer window. He said: "I am used to transfer windows. As long as it is open, it is what it is. That is football.

"Some players have been away with their national teams and will report back to us in the training camp in Portugal and he is one of those players. For now he is an Aberdeen player and that is what we will focus on, but the window is the window.

"The process takes time and we will adapt from the result. In this business, they are going to be here or they are not. For me, I like to be optimistic in the players we have. They are still here so I believe in them."
