Miramax Names Kirby Adams Head Of Physical Production

EXCLUSIVE: Miramax has appointed Kirby Adams as Head of Physical Production.

In his new role, Adams will oversee all aspects of production management for Miramax’s film and TV slate. He will report directly to Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman.

Adams comes from Warner Bros, where he served as a senior executive in physical production. He most recently oversaw Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! for the Burbank lot. Prior to that, he was EVP Physical Production at MGM, where he worked on such films as Michael B. Jordan’s Creed III; Ron Howard’s Thirteen Lives; Snoop Dogg starred The Underdoggs and Doug Liman’s recent Jake Gyllenhaal-led Road House.

Prior to MGM, Adams spent more than a decade at Paramount Pictures, having last served as SVP Physical Production. During his tenure, he was the executive in charge of production on such movies as Rocketman, Coming 2 America and Without Remorse.

“I have seen Kirby’s talent firsthand and can attest that he is able to balance a disciplined approach while being talent-friendly like no one else in the industry,” Glickman said. “His major studio experience and deep relationships will be instrumental in Miramax’s continued growth and expansion in film and television.”

Miramax recently saw Da’Vine Joy Randolph win an Oscar win for her supporting role in Alexander Payne’ title’s The Holdovers via Focus Features. The movie also received four other Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. Miramax’s The Beekeeper, released via Amazon MGM Studios stateside, grossed $150M across 30 markets. On the small screen, its Netflix series The Gentleman ranked No. 1 for three weeks after dropping in March.

Up next is the Sony/TriStar-distributed Here, directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, set for release on November 15, and the next installment in the Scary Movie franchise, set to commence production this fall, with Paramount Pictures releasing worldwide.
