Missing Jay Slater’s mum says she will stay in Tenerife for ‘as long as it takes’ to find her teenage son. The 19-year-old, from Lancashire, vanished on Monday morning, with the major search to find him now well into its sixth day.

He had been to the NRG festival the night before with friends. It is reported that he then travelled back to the rural village of Masca with others he met, staying in a remote Airbnb holiday rental, before ‘walking off into the mountains on foot’.

Jay’s devastated mum Debbie Duncan has now vowed to remain in the Spanish island ‘for as long as it takes’ amid the ongoing investigation. “All I know is that I am going to stay here for as long as it takes, I'm not going home unless it's with Jay,” she told the Mail.

She also claimed there had been a possible sighting of her missing son. She claimed someone had come forward to say they saw somebody walking ‘back down the road’ and ‘sat on a bench’ with two other men at around 6pm on Monday.

“But if it was him what was he doing there and who are these two men?," she added. The sighting has not yet been confirmed by the Civil Guard, which is leading the investigation into Jay’s disappearance.

The latest update from the force to the M.E.N. detailed how specialists were conducting a research of the surrounding Masca area.

Civil Guard officers, mountain rescue teams and police drones and helicopters have already deployed in the search. Civil Defence officers at the search base told the Manchester Evening News that the vast area, split up into three different ravines, is around 30km wide. As of Friday afternoon, there had been ‘no developments’.
