University Challenge contestants Eric Monkman and Bobby Seagull have teamed up for a new BBC Two show, and viewers are thrilled to see some intelligent people wearing clothes on TV.

The legendary contestants, who won over the nation when they appeared on the academic quiz programme last year, are now attracting even more fans in Monkman and Seagull's Genius Guide to Britain.

One fan tweeted: "We need more programmes like #MonkmanAndSeagull. I am so tired of conflict, of celebrity, of everything being dumbed-down. Thank you #bbc2 for Monday evenings."

"No half naked celebs. No tedious self-promotion. Just two bloody nice genuine blokes taking us around Britain. I love it," another wrote.

"This is great, not least because of Eric's excitable grin betraying his love of knowledge. These two might just save the world," a third shared.

The four-part series sees the Cambridge graduates "travel up and down the country in search of Britain's most remarkable scientific and technological achievements", the broadcaster previously revealed.

The road trip will include visits to sites and inventions including the world's smallest museum in a phone booth, with the duo sharing their knowledge throughout each episode.

Speaking about the new project, Monkman previously said: "My admiration for British genius is one of the major factors that led me to study in the United Kingdom. I am fortunate to now have the opportunity to see more of your beautiful country.

"I look forward to learning more about Britain's scientific discoveries and to sharing what I learn with everyone."
