This Morning forced to pause show after Ben Shephard interruption

The programme encountered a slight hiccup on Thursday as Ben Shephard was charmingly diverted. He and his This Morning co-host Cat Deeley were in the midst of teasing the day's content when the interruption happened.

Cat began with: "OK, let's take a look at what we have coming up on today's show. Bringing the laughs to the studio comedian Chris McCausland is here as he prepares to take over Saturday mornings with his very own daytime show."

Ben couldn't resist adding: "Let's get Chris racing around the studio as well," before going on to say: "Also we are taking a journey back in time as they have been dominating the land of the living dinosaurs, morning, David."

Then the camera cut to David at a safari park, who said: "One of my favourite exhibits is the dinosaur section, I'm joined by a little bearded dragon here, this is Kenny, say hello Kenny."

"And behind me are some of his ancestors, these dinosaurs look incredibly lifelike", as reported by the Express.

He continued: "Many of the plants here date back to prehistoric times, indeed, I'll be exploring some ancient plant life that you can grow in your own backyard."

Cat wrapped up with: "Helping you make a splash this summer, Laura is poolside with her pick of the best swimwear."

After a moment of silence, Ben realised his mistake: "Oh I thought we were going to hear...there is me just staring at the bikinis."

He quickly regained his composure and told viewers: "The sun is out which means one thing for most of us, it is rose time and we have found some of the best bottles."

Later, after previewing what's to come on the show, Ben and Cat welcomed Isla Traquair live from Tenerife, who was covering the disappearance of teenager Jay Slater.

However, the decision to send Isla to Tenerife caused quite a stir among viewers, with some questioning why it was necessary.

One viewer took to Twitter asking: "What is Isla doing in Tenerife? How is that helping? #thismorning."

Another expressed their annoyance online: "Bl***y hell! Now they've sent Isla to Tenerife! Why exactly? #thismorning." (sic).

And a third shared their disapproval: "This is pretty ghoulish this. #ThisMorning."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
