Ben Shephard issues This Morning warning to ITV viewers over 'controversial' guest

Ben Shephard swiftly stepped into issue an 'urgent' warning to viewers who tuned into watch Wednesday's This Morning, after an interview with a much talked about and slightly 'controversial' guest on the show.

Having left his long standing role as an anchor on fellow ITV daytime programme Good Morning Britain, Ben joined forces with ex SMTV star Cat Deeley to be This Morning's new main presenting duo back in March, with some viewers arguing that some of the show's existing hosts should have got the nod over them.

Ben and Cat were at the helm of their third episode of this week when they announced they'd be doing an interview with a man who swears by a diet of raw meat, regularly eating things like uncooked chicken and claiming it had done him no harm. Around an hour and a half into proceedings, the pair crossed live via video call to America to speak to the man, called Weston, with him detailing what he ears on a daily basis and pushing the nutritional benefits he believe his ill advised diet offers.

As they continued their chat with Weston and saw him tuck into raw meat live on air, Ben and Cat were joined in the studio by This Morning's resident health expert Dr Zoe Williams, who was quick to warn against taking a similar approach. And, as he wrapped up the interview, Ben had a similar message for anyone watching at home.

Issuing a prompt warning, before even thanking Weston for his time, Ben said: "We should reiterate, particularly with chicken. We do not recommend raw chicken!"

Giving her take, Dr Zoe interrupted: "I think for anybody, if they do go onto have a family, during pregnancy. This is not safe and for children, they can't get all the nutrients they need from animal products alone."
