Holly Willoughby missed out on a Best Presenter nod at the upcoming National Television Awards.

The host currently co-presents ITV1's This Morning with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary following Phillip Schofield's dramatic exit earlier in the year. The show is up for Best Daytime at NTAs alongside Loose Women, The Chase and The Repair Shop.

Despite having been longlisted back in May, both Willoughby and Schofield, who had both scored Best Presenter nods in the past, were notable absentees from this year's contenders.

Hammond, who has been a host and reporter on This Morning since 2002, bagged a nomination in the coveted category together with I'm a Celebrity... presenting duo Ant & Dec, Gladiators' Bradley Walsh, The Traitors' Claudia Winkleman and financial journalist Martin Lewis.

In May this year, Schofield announced he had agreed to step down from This Morning after 21 years on its sofa. He later admitted to an affair with a younger male colleague, explained he hadn't "been truthful" about the relationship in order to protect the other person involved. He also revealed he doubts he'll ever work in TV again following his admission.

"Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can't go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love," Schofield's initial statement read.

The transition happened during a half-term break in which Hammond and O'Leary stepped in to host. Upon her return in early June, Willoughby addressed Schofield's departure.

"You, me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved," Willoughby said in her live message.

"That is a lot to process and it's equally hard to see the toll that it's taken on their own mental health.

"I think what unites us all now is a desire to heal for the health and well-being of everyone.

"I hope that as we start this new chapter and get back to a place of warmth and magic that this show holds for all of us, we can find strength in each other."

This Morning airs on ITV1.
