This Morning's Phillip Schofield has denied a feud with Holly Willoughby, saying that they are still "the best of friends".

Phillip addressed the speculation following a number of tabloid reports claiming there has been tension between them recently.

In an emotional statement, Phillip praised his co-presenter for her support after he took an extended period of leave, during which his brother Timothy was found guilty of child sex offences.

"As I have said before, Holly is my rock," he said (via The Sun).

"We're the best of friends — as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone. Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I've been there for her.

"The last few weeks haven't been easy for either of us.

"My family went through a real ordeal. And Holly's support throughout meant the world to me, as did the support of my bosses at ITV, my editor Martin Frizell and the whole This Morning family, including our amazing viewers. And, of course, Holly has herself been ill with shingles.

"Whatever happens, we still have each other to count on."

Phillip has denied feud reports before. Back in October 2020, he told Chris Evans' podcast How to Wow that there has "never been a feud" with Holly.

"When they're writing 'Phillip and Holly and feud', we couldn't have been closer because I'd told her my secret and she was holding me together at work," he said, referring to the time he confided in Holly about his sexuality before the public announcement.

And in December 2019, he described Holly as "the sister I never had", adding: "I just adore working with her, she's just perfect."

Holly and This Morning editor Martin Frizell have also rubbished claims of any falling-out in the past.

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
