Leigh has welcomed a new multi-bank deposit ATM machine, inside the Morrisons on London Road.

The ATM, brought to residents by Cash Access UK, hopes to improve deposit services in the area and maintain widespread access to cash.

Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK, said: "Access to deposit-taking ATMs is vital for cash-reliant UK consumers struggling to access basic banking services and it’s just as important that businesses who accept cash can bank it too.

"We’re pleased to be able to bring this service to residents and local businesses in Leigh."

The machine, developed in partnership with self-service financial access leader NCR Atleos, is linked to the LINK ATM network.

It provides services like withdrawals, balance enquiries, and PIN management to customers of all major banks.

Furthermore, it allows free cash deposits for customers of Barclays, Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Lloyds, NatWest, RBS and Ulster Bank, with plans to incorporate more banks soon.

The initiative is part of a larger effort by Cash Access UK, a non-profit company owned by nine major banks, to improve cash services access.

This comes after a number of bank closures in the area in recent years.

Residents can access the machine during Morrisons’ usual operating hours at 1169-1177, London Rd, Leigh.

Lloyds CEO expects $380 million UK business banking revenue boost
Lloyds Banking Group is set to make an extra 300 million pounds ($380 million) a year in revenue by 2026 from its business banking unit, CEO Charlie Nunn said on Thursday, as corporate confidence picks up in Britain despite challenges. The British bank's Business and Commercial Banking (BCB) unit, which serves firms with up to 100 million pounds in turnover, will have reached two thirds of the target by the end of this year, Nunn told analysts in a presentation. That has come from cross-selling more products to customers and digitising services, BCB head Elyn Corfield said.
