A new map has revealed the most dangerous cities in Nottingham, according to police data. Information from Police Data UK allows Nottingham residents to track how many crimes have happened in their area, and what type of offence was committed.

According to police data, there were 1.6m crimes of violence and sexual offences committed on the streets and neighbourhoods of England and Wales last year. These include crimes against the person such as common assault, GBH (causing grievous bodily harm), rape, sexual assault, and other sex crimes.

Across the nation, there were almost 900 streets last year where there were at least 52 of these offences - meaning someone was attacked, on average, once a week. But physical and sexual assaults are far more common on the nation’s most dangerous streets.

In the Nottingham city centre and Trent Bridge area there were 587 violent crimes recorded during 2023, according to police data. Hotspots of violence include 34 near Angel Row and 29 St James' Street, which both have bars and takeaways popular with punters on nights out.

The parts of Nottingham highlighted in a deeper red, signifying more than 200 violent crimes took place in the area, are mostly in the centre and the north of the city. However, Clifton to the south of the city centre was significantly worse for crime than the other areas surrounding it.

Clifton North recorded 255 violent crimes last year and there were 227 in Clifton South. Other parts of the city that came out badly include St Ann's West with 454, Sneinton with 263, Arboretum, Forest & Trent University with 419, and Radford with 332.

This is in stark contrast to other areas like Mapperley & Porchester, Wollaton Vale, University Park, Lenton Abbey & Jubilee Campus, where 60, 75, and 63 violent crimes were reported respectively.
