'Most Wanted' Briton Arrested Over Shooting

One of Britain's most wanted men and his wife have been arrested in Amsterdam over an attempted murder in London.

Patrick and Constance Adams, believed to be part of an infamous family gang, were detained by Dutch authorities on a European arrest warrant on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.

The couple - aged 59 and 55 respectively - now face being extradited from Holland to the UK.

British detectives had issued an appeal in May, saying they wanted to speak to the couple in connection with the shooting of a man in central London in December 2013.

Police said the victim, aged 51 at the time, was sitting in his black BMW X5 on Wyclif Street at the junction with St John Street - not far from Sadler's Wells Theatre and City University - when he was approached by a man and woman.

He was shot in the chest by the man, according to officers.

He was taken by ambulance to an east London hospital where he was treated for his injuries for more than a month before being discharged.
